Buffalo Wild Wings – Yeah I’m not a fan of chains but these wings are damn good
I haven’t put up a new review in a while so I figured it was time. I had forgotten how much I like the wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. If you are one of my peeps out west you may have no clue what the hell a Buffalo Wild Wings is. Its big ass sports bar kind of place that serves kick ass wings. They were founded right here in Ohio about 25 years ago and now have something like 500+ stores in 38 states (according to Wiki). At one time I checking into what it would take to get a franchise because I thought one out in the valley in CA would do some kick ass business. As soon as I have a spare million bucks lying around, I’m all over it. WingZombie…Chicken Wing Tycoon!
So, I sent out an email, put an invite up on Facebook and no one came to hang out with me accept my trusty partner in wings, Dan (you’re always there for me man, you keep me so I don’t look like a creepy loser sitting at the end of the bar by myself taking pictures of my food). We were greeted at our table by Nikole who is the BEST BARTENDER ON THE PLANET!!!! (See, Nikole…I told you I’d immortalize you in cyberspace). I was in luck, Tuesday night just happens to be buy one get one wing night. That means that when I ordered dozen wings I got another dozen for FREE! There are very few things that make me happier than free stuff (unless that “free” stuff someone “gives” you ends up requiring a trip to the doctor).
So I split my two dozen wings up into 4 different flavors. It’s my policy that when I review a place I use the yard stick of the traditional “hot wing”. I ordered Hot, Garlic Parmesan, Asian Zing and Mango habanero.
The hot were quite good. They packed more heat than I’m used to getting in a traditional hot wing. They had a nice hit of spice but I would have liked a little more vinegar hit on the back end. The doneness was perfect and the wings were average size.
Where this place shines is in the other flavors. The considerable heat and perfect sweetness of the mango habanero is something that I cannot resist. The creaminess and garlic hit of the garlic parmesan is amazing. I love the tart soy punch of the Asian zing is something that is hard to pass by.
While I wouldn’t say that this is my favorite wing place it does rank up there pretty high. I was very happy to see that the alien who posed as Dan on our last outing had departed and Dan was safely returned. I was concerned until Dan ordered his second beer…then it knew it was the real Dan. I still am a bit hesitant to ask him about any anal probing or assimilation that may have taken place. Not so much because of his reaction but because of his potential response. There are some things that I really don’t want to picture and what he and Lauren do behind closed doors is their business.
