Rob Zombie 11.17.09

This show was at the Akron Civic Theater…what a great venue. The place has a great theatrical vibe to it, the perfect setting for someone as over the top as Rob Zombie. I did get a good laugh out of the ushers who were all well into AARP territory thinking they were going to control the crowd.

Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures opened the show. They are gaining some notoriety because Rob Zombie featured them in his remake of Halloween II. They are a rockabilly, greaser band with a Dawn of the Dead twist. They have an interesting vibe and sound…almost bluegrass at times with the steel guitar, different for sure.

Next were the Nekromantix. Now, I kind of like their music, another rockabilly act, but their font man seemed way to impressed with himself. It turned me off to their show.

Finally Rob Zombie came out. No words can describe the awesomeness that is a Rob Zombie show. Over the top visuals on the screen barrage your senses. He is a ball of energy and spends as much time in the crowd as he does on the stage. If you get a chance to see him perform and don’t…you are a fool. Love or hate his music, you have to admire the stage show. He has John 5 touring with him and that man is just insanely good on a guitar. I’ll just have to let the video that I shot see if it can do the show some justice.
